Shack Wrap were proud to be an event partner of Northern Grip Mountain Bike festival in Ramsbottom for MTB fun and frolics for Northern Grip 2016. Most of the action took place on Saturday 23rd July, but there was an opening party on Friday night and breakfast and the big group ride on Sunday morning! Here you will find the link to Nicks interview with Northern Grip and below was the full programme in case you missed it – can’t wait for next year!
A network of brand new National Trust waymarked trails that have never been “officially” used before on the hills above Ramsbottom were opened exclusively for Northern Grip.
As well as the bike companies, there was a bike setup clinic from Cookson Cycles, as well as Pedal Precision and Shack Wrap showcasing their wares and the headline sponsor Team JMC were on hand to chat about their sporting club and how you can benefit by getting involved.
The Kona Bicycle Co., Sonder, Cotic, Scott, and Giant brought their very latest demo bike fleets that were available to book out for test rides. The Hope Tech womens team also attended, offering advice and running women’s rides on the day.
Live Music was provided in the hub and up on the hills by Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, The East Pointers, Rick Warren and Damien Heakin. If you hadn’t heard of these guys you were in for a treat.
Food and drink was available in the festival hub’s courtyard where you could sample Northern Grips very own Bunny Hop ale brewed exclusively for the festival as well as an array of food will on sale including wood fired pizzas from local heroes The Venetian. Award winning gastropub the Eagle and Child served breakfast to ticketholders on Sunday morning before the closing ride.
Inside the hub were Q and A sessions with pro rider Ricky Crompton, Lad & dad cycling duo Rich & Tom Pips, the people behind the new indoor mountain bike centre Dirt Factory – Indoor Bike Park and the Hope Technology Ltd womens ride team and more.
Throughout the day and evening they were screening classic mountain bike films and some new edits from Kona, Alpkit, Ricky Crompton and more.
